Description
This Handmade Indian Brass Oil Lamp is a traditional oil lamp known as Diya or Deepak or Aarti Diya. Used since ancient times as a decoration and a source of light, the Diya lights up cotton wick which is dipped in vegetable oil or ghee to fill the room with light. In India, almost every household has a custom of lighting a deepam or Diya twice a day — in the morning and evening. All ceremonies, daily worship rituals, auspicious functions, religious occasions as well as new ventures start with lightning of the lamp. Diya signifies purity, goodness, good luck and power.
